Hello, and welcome, we're excited to start this complex project with you :)

The title of this listing suggests a total of 54 or less icons because, as you probably already know, the number of ranks and type of icons present in an iconostasis will vary depending on the size and nature of the screen/'stasis'/stand separating the altar from the rest of the church.

There are several tiers - The Sovereign/Royal Icons, The Twelve Great Feasts, The Twelve Apostles, Old Testament Prophets, The Cross and the Molenies/Molenas (Madonna and John the Apostle), the Royal Doors, the North and South Doors, then going up in the middle: the Last Supper or The Holy Face, Mother of God "of the Sign", and the Holy Trinity, but all of these themes are usually present according to the size of the church and thus of the iconostasis itself, and that is something only you, dear buyer, can know and decide :)

You will notice that the icons of prophets and apostles painted specifically to be displayed on a "stasis"/iconostasis have a higher contrast, more intense expressions, deeper colours, thicker brush strokes, and darker outlines because they are rather small while meant to be looked at from farther away than you would look at an icon in a residence - on a stand, or on a wall at sight-height; the technique resembles, let's say, the result in applying make-up on opera artists performing on huge stages, or for actors and presenters on television's early days, in the beginning, when the devices were small; I am highlighting this aspect in case you wonder about the difference in appearance between these examples of icons and the rest of the artworks in our shop :)

We understand there should be extensive messaging back and forth, via the etsy chat or e-mails, packed with additional photos - of our work, past and present, and of the actual screen to be adorned in your church - and we're here for it; we also understand it is a big decision and a considerable amount of work to commission to virtual strangers online :) and that is why we could send samples, at half the price, of an icon with an apostle or with a prophet, maybe even one of the feasts, to perhaps help in making a choice in our favour :) regarding our services.

All details regarding actual sizes, number, surface to be painted on - we frequently use poplar plywood 8mm thick - , and price of icons, themes, estimated time of arrival or anything else that might come up will be thoroughly discussed and I can promise we really listen :)
